Good-looking doctors. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis aged 18, a painful autoimmune condition that shortened my professional tennis career. It's a sadness that shall always be with me. But, I shall never forget the kindness of my first doctor, who helped me get through my A level exams and who, coincidentally, happened to be exceptionally good looking.
My family. I have wonderful parents who have given me unconditional love and support not only with nursing me through the dark years of RA but with my writing too. I'd be lost without them and know how lucky I am.
Dogs - especially my Lucas Terrier, Mr Darcy. I didn't know it was possible to love a four-legged friend as much as I love mine. Darcy is also the reason I wrote my dog walking comedy, Monday to Friday Man. Little did I know that our adventures in Ravenscourt Park would become a novel.
The parks in London. London is so green and beautiful. Darcy and I have many adventures in Richmond, Chiswick, Kensington Gardens, Battersea, Ravenscourt Park and many other places - there's so much choice.
Coffee - am addicted. The stronger the better.
Writing & researching my novels. I love to write about real people and real experiences because I get to be so nosy! In The Things We Do For Love, I talked to many grandparents who had raised their grandchildren, to a mother of a child with Cerebral Palsy and I got to find out exactly what goes on in the boardroom at an estate agent's office…
Laughing. I need someone to invent an incredible anti-wrinkle/anti-laughter line cream.
Playing cards with my niece Emily Noel, and nephew, Billy Noel. We've spent so many happy hours playing Canasta and Racing Demon.
Scones with strawberry jam. Mum has always made them, they remind me of my childhood.
Researchers who work hard to find cures for RA and any other serious condition. Thanks to my magic drug that I've been taking for the past 10 years, I lead a pretty independent life, largely free of pain.
