Starring Role like the rest of the series, the story is set in Hollywood during the roaring twenties. This is the conclusion of Jack’s part of the story in the Gin & Jazz series. There are still those characters in the series that need their happily ever after, but Jack most definitely gets his in this installment!
This is book four in the Gin and Jazz series so what you can tell us about the other three?
Each book tells a part of the story of the young, naïve Jack who was thrown out of a boy’s home at sixteen for messing around with another of the boys. Scared and alone, he goes to New York City and meets up with the slightly older and streetwise Nick. The first book, Hollywood Bound, begins three years later. Jack is nineteen, and he’s fallen in love with Nick. Unfortunately, Nick is battling his feelings for Jack because he doesn’t believe that loving another man is right.
The books span over two years of Jack’s life as he goes from street orphan to actor wanna-be to international silent film star to realising a happy and peaceful life with the man he finally chooses as his love. Along the way, he makes some terrible choices that threaten to destroy everything that he holds dear.
Please tell us a bit about the inspiration behind this story.
I used to work in Hollywood in the entertainment industry — both as a performer and on the business side. Boy, do I have a lot of stories *wink* I combined that with my love of the 1920’s. That time period has always been my favourite in terms of style, art and fashion. The silent films and stars have always captured my attention as well.
How has the character of Jack progressed in this book?
Poor Jack, he goes through a lot. He has such a pure heart that he doesn’t have any defences against the sharks of Hollywood. Through tragedy and emotional loss, he has to fight to get the happiness he seeks. He started out scared of his own shadow and completely dependent on Nick. What he experiences on his journey helps him to mature whilst still maintaining his sweet spirit.
What is next for you?
There are more men of Hollywood who need to find their true love, and it just wouldn’t be fair to leave them cold and alone. Book five of the Gin & Jazz series, Studio Orders, is a BDSM tale that tells Juan and Vincent’s story. I also have more installments of the Uniform Encounters series coming out this year. Guarded Desires will be out the 7th of March and tells the story of an older DEA agent and a younger PFC National Guardsman.
