Bisbee is full of rich history from its days of being a large city crammed amongst the Mule Mountains to the small town it is today.

In the late 1870s, lead and copper were discovered in the Mule Mountains, and a claim later became known as Bisbee.  Our town grew to be the largest city between St. Louis and San Francisco, with a population of over 20,000 people. It was one of the richest mineral sites in the world.

Fast forward 100 years, and in mid 1970s, when I was a young girl, Bisbee nearly died. The copper mining company had depleted the ore and shut down the mines. People were left with no income and few jobs existed.

Then an interesting thing happened: hippies, or “creative spirits,” moved in and revitalized our small town and turned it into an artists’ community. Now our “quirky” hometown hosts travelers from all over the world who come for the history, the art, the music, the fantastic weather, and more. Our town has just over 5,000 residents, per the 2013 census.

Bisbee is a part of the Wild West, and we have lots of cowboys in the area, including those I went to school and grew up with. As a matter of fact, I was raised on a small ranch fifteen miles outside of Bisbee’s town limits, with a family of cowboys.

I feel fortunate to have grown up on the family ranch. We planted huge gardens and raised lots of animals, including sheep, goats, pigs, cattle, and chickens. I was in 4-H, FFA, and played the bass clarinet in school. I won trips all over the U.S. while I attended high school, including two trips to Washington, D.C. My youth was full and colorful.

One thing that never changed was that I always read and read and read. I decided by kindergarten that I would be an author. In junior high school I can remember thinking how I wanted to create worlds for readers to get lost in, like I got lost in the books I read. It wasn’t until my mid-thirties that I realized that dream and goal.

Over my seventeen-year career, I have written in a variety of genres. My true loves have included romantic suspense and cowboys. And what could possibly be better than both in the same novels? The first two romances I wrote were about cowboy lawmen.

Hidden Prey, the first book in the “Deadly Intent” series, is about a young musician, Tori Cox, who witnesses the son of a Mexican cartel leader murdering a federal agent. Landon Walker, ans agent with the Department of Homeland Security, rescues Tori when he spots her fleeing armed men. Landon and Tori face obstacle after obstacle as they fight to keep her alive. Murder, explosions, kidnapping—the action doesn’t stop!

I hope you enjoy Hidden Prey! Leave me a message or drop me a line via email, and ask any questions you may have. I love hearing from you. J
