The comedy duo took on hosting duties for the British Academy Television Awards with P+O Cruises on Sunday (12.05.24) evening but were taken aback when comedienne Katherine Ryan arrived to present an award and called out the title of their Sky Max show 'Rob and Romesh Vs …'.

Speaking live on stage at the Royal Festival Hall, Rob said: "We'd like to say thank you to everyone who makes the show, obviously it's a huge undertaking. Most importantly, Lou and Lisa, our wonderful wives..."

Romesh quipped: "Actually, to be fair, Lisa hasn't been wonderfully supportive!"

The double act had beaten out 'The Graham Norton Show', Joey Lycett's 'Late Night Lycett' and 'Would I Lie To You?' for the accolade and hastily resumed hosting the ceremony as the rest of the team left the stage.

Rob joked: "Right, so we've gotta awkwardly carry on hosting the show now, haven't we?"

Of their on-screen partnership, Rob previously joked that it was borne out of television bosses seeing Romesh and thinking he was "great" but needed something to make him "funny" on screen.

He said: " I think what happened was, people saw Romesh's shows and thought 'he's great but he needs laughs'; so basically they get Beckett in, try and tickle it up, a few funnies as well as the 'ooh look at all these issues I'm looking at'. So, if you like Romesh but you want a laugh when you're watching him, then this is the show for you."

Immediately after their win, Cheltenham Festival Day One won for Best Sports Coverage, having been up against MOTD Live: Fifa Women’s World Cup 2023 and Wimbledon 2023: Men’s Final.
