Power couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes split last year and subsequently divorced just a few weeks later and since then both have remained silent about the effects of the break up. But now Tom Cruise has finally decided to speak out about it and has revealed that he was almost as shocked by the sudden decision from Holmes as we were. “I wasn’t expecting that” the 50-year-old said during a German TV interview when quizzed about it, adding: “Life is a challenge. You are 50 and you think you have everything in order and suddenly it hits you — that’s what life is all about.” “Life is like a tragic comedy, you need a sense of humor.” The couple had been married for five year prior to the separation and at the time Tom was said to be completely “blindsided” by it, while Katie had been contemplating it for the last two years. Tom and Katie have a daughter together, Suri, who spends most of the time with her mum in New York.
