Nobody say the number 33 to Tom Cruise – we don’t think he’s very fond of that number at the moment. All his partners have ended their relationship with him when they have been 33. Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman were both 33 when their marriage to Tom Cruise broke down, and Katie Holmes is also 33 – and she of course announced that she was to divorce Tom a few days ago. We’ve all heard the rumours that Katie did not agree about Tom Cruise’s religious views, but we don’t think we ever thought they would split up. It is thought that Katie wants to divorce Tom and have sole custody of their child Suri to save the 6 year old from being brought up in a world of scientology. Katie is thought to be terrified that Suri would be brought up into the religion. When she announced the divorce, she cited irreconcilable differences and told her lawyer she wanted sole custody of Suri. The couple had been married for 5 years. Also, the fact that half of Tom’s family lived with him and Katie and Suri apparently also didn’t help. A source said: “There is absolutely no way he is going to let Katie have sole custody. Katie has found the set-up extremely suffocating at times. One of the main things she and Tom fought over was his family. His mum was always around everywhere they went and so were his sister and kids. They all lived in the same mansion. But even though the house is huge it just became too much for Katie.” The religion has really caused an issue too as Tom’s mum had started home schooling Suri and trying to get her to follow scientology. Katie was actually raised as a catholic but had made a lot of changes to her life for Tom. But in the end, she’d had enough and had apparently been planning her leaving for weeks. She took Suri to New York - which is where she filed for divorce – and Tom I currently filming his new movie Oblivion in Iceland. He was said to be shocked about her filing for divorce. He’s also 50 years old tomorrow. Happy birthday Tom!
