Russell Brand was spotted looking very cheerful wandering around LA yesterday, straight after he left an AA meeting, so it must have been a good one. He then looked at some vintage posh cars with some friends but left without buying one. He did make the fashion mistake of wearing socks with sandals – although only the day before we’d seen him with no footwear on at all, so at least it was better than that! Russell Brand does seem to have mellowed a lot recently – more so since his split with Katy Perry. When he met her, his womanising ways went, but since their split, he also seems to feel quite bad about some of his more offensive jokes. He explained and said: “I never like to be mean to people. Even when I do things like the MTV Awards, I’m not trying to criticise human beings, they’re only trying their best – even people in government. Take my new show Brand X - it's more just looking at a news story, how it’s portrayed and why. Whose agenda is being served? It’s more comedic analysis, it’s certainly not having a pop at anyone.” Russell’s latest show has actually been panned by the critics. Russell talked about how he is generally. He said: “I’ve been wonderfully well. I’m spending a lot of time meditating and doing yoga. That is the new version of myself and I’m liking it.” He also talked about working on the film Rock of Ages and if he still gets starstruck. He said: “I’ve been famous for a while so I now know that well-known people are just really normal people who have got a good job. But working with Tom Cruise was pretty out there because he is so famous. You talk to him and your brain just keeps telling you, ‘He’s in Jerry Maguire’.”
