Joe Manganiello is proud to have been sober for 12 years. The 'Magic Mike XXL' star has experienced problems with alcohol in the past and says staying away from drinking is still "near and dear" to him. He said: "Sobriety is something near and dear to me... [I am] 12-and-a-half years sober. So obviously this is something very close to my heart." The 38-year-old actor has previously admitted he made the decision to get sober because his alcohol dependency was ruining his life and career. He said in 2013: "There was a period of about four years where I needed to quit drinking. And the drinking got in the way [of my career]. My life was ruined. I was homeless, careless and broke with no career... it was worth it [to get sober]. "It was one of those obstacles I needed to get over. Once again, I needed to clear the road in order for these things to happen."
