We know we shouldn’t laugh at Jay Z’s nightclub situation, but we just sort of can’t help it. We let out just a little smile when we heard that his club 40/40 was shut down just 24 hours after it’s re-launch. And when we say re-launch, we mean they spent £6.4 million on it. The place opened its doors to lots of very excited people – including proud owners Beyonce and Jay Z, Alicia keys, P Diddy and Alex Rodriguez. They all partied at the place, and then less than a day later, it got closed for health and safety reasons. A routine health code inspection took place and Jay Z’s club ended up with 69 violations. You’d think that with it literally just opening they would make sure everything was perfect wouldn’t you. Just some of the things that were wrong included dangerously warm temperatures in a refrigerator, hot food left on a counter and an employee mixing salsa with his bare hands. Oops! And we do have to say, that what is even funnier is the fact that before the club closed for work to make it better, it only had 28 violations – so spending £6.4 million on it, actually gained 41 violations! A source said: "If you have a walk-in place with food like this, you put a hell of a lot of people at risk. A night of dinner and dancing should not include the risk of contracting food-borne illness." There is a little bit of a happy ending. The club sorted out what was wrong and it was allowed to reopen the following day, but still, we have to ask ourselves again, how did they have so many things wrong on day one?! The re-launch of the club also doubled up as a bit of a celebration for the birth of baby Blue Ivy for Jay Z. Let’s hope he didn’t feed her there!
