In the week we found out some inside information that Simon Cowell was very unhappy with last year’s series of UK X factor, the first judge for the next series is confirmed... Gary Barlow will definitely be returning for his second series. We heard that last series Simon Cowell called the judges about the falling ratings and even did a video call with the contestants in which he told them to up their game. It also has come out that he thought that Gary Barlow was very stiff and wooden in his role on the panel to begin with, but then warmed to him. And he certainly must have ended up liking him as Gary is the first deal to be sorted for the next series. Gary said: "I'm thrilled to be back and really looking forward to working with the X Factor team again. The fact that a superstar could just walk out on that stage is very exciting." A spokesperson for X factor said: "Gary brings his vast music expertise, his fabulous character and down-to-earth approach to the show and audiences adore him so we are absolutely delighted that he's coming back." Louis Walsh has confirmed that he is coming back, but no official statement has been released. It is also thought that they are in the process of sorting out Tulisa’s contract to sit on the panel once again. The one place which seems uncertain is the spot where Kelly Rowland sits. There have already been some changes made to the format of the UK X factor – now any singer over 16 can enter, even if they do have an existing management deal. This is probably Simon’s way of trying to copy The Voice and get some great talent on the show. It is also thought that Simon may make weekly appearances on the next series of UK X factor via Skype from America.
