Elton John and his partner David Furnish have been talking about the counselling they are taking in order to help them minimise the effect of having 2 dads on their son Zachary. They describe what their son will have as a double stigma. Zachary is 13 months old now and is adored by his 2 fathers. The baby was born via a surrogate on Christmas Day 2010. Elton said: "We're going to raise him to be proud of who he is and understand that he came from a relationship that was taking the love we have for each other to a more dedicated and committed level," He also explained how it isn’t just the fact that he has gay parents which will get him noticed. He said: "I think he's going to have a lot of attention thrust upon him. He's going to be potentially double stigmatised, because one of his parents is extremely famous and secondly because he comes from two dads. We've taken advice from counsellors. We've put a whole scrap book together about his creation and the people that were involved in the process and how the intent was about love." Elton might be nearly 65, but he talks about how he still has energy and how having a son has changed his life. He said: "I can't tell you how brilliant this year has been and how much love he's brought us and how much we're getting. We thought the civil partnership brought us together, but having a child has been magnificent and I never thought I would have a kid. I don't feel 65, which I will be next year. Now, having a kid, there's so much more to do. There's so much more I want to see happen before I die." Well we’re glad to hear it.
