Actress and animal rights activist, Jenna Dewan-Tatum celebrates her birthday today so to mark the occasion we have rounded up her bet vegan moments.
Gentle Barn- Jenna has been vegetarian since she was 14- so she knows a thing or two about the plant-based lifestyle and decided to share it in this video so others might follow in her footsteps.
Vegetarian to Vegan- She told Natural Health about the benefits from transitioning from vegetarianism to veganism; "After going vegan, I felt so much better. My skin cleared up, I had a ton more energy and I just felt clearer in the head."
PETA- In 2010 Jenna did a photo shoot with PETA and was covered in body paint to look like a snake. She did this to discourage people from buying fashion accessories made from real animal skin and encourage shoppers to invest in cheaper faux-skin options.
The Humane Society- In 2014, Jenna appeared in a campaign where she talked about the need to end animal testing for cosmetics.
Ellen- In December 2013, Jenna appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Knowing she is a fellow vegan- she brought along some of her homemade enchiladas- which is apparently the only thing she can cook.
Women's Health- Jenna has been vegan since she watched a documentary on slaughterhouses and is open about veganism in interviews and champions the lifestyle. After watching the video, she admitted; 'The next day I said "I'm never eating meat again". It just stuck. I feel good about it morally and physically.'
Channing Tatum- According to Jenna, Channing did try to go vegan- but it didn't last long- however she has a healthy attitude towards veganism and her family; 'He really did try to be vegan for six months. The guy doesn't like vegetables, which makes it tough. It was hard in the beginning because you want someone to be on the same page, but you've got to let people be themselves.' (Women's Health)
Everly- She is also allegedly raising her daughter as vegetarian and then letting her decide when she's old enough if she wants to stick with it, go vegan or to eat meat. (Wikipedia)
"My pediatrician believes it's completely healthy and possible to have a vegan child, and I think that's amazing. But when Everly gets older, I think we should allow her to be her own person." (Natural health)
Vegan junk food- The actress is not shy about eating junk food, even if it is vegan; "I try to be good, but I'm not a robot." Her favourite naughty vegan foods are ; "Vegan pizza. And I can't turn down a French fry! When I was pregnant, that was my Kryptonite!" (Natural Health)
