The 31-year-old radio DJ was left devastated last week when he was told he had lost his job as host of 'The Xtra Factor' alongside his co-star Rylan Clark-Neal because the sister show of 'The X Factor' was axed to make room for more online content.

But it hasn't taken the funnyman long to bag his next project as he's been approached by producers at ITV2 to front a new panel show called 'JudgeMENTAL'.

A source said: "Matt is clearly liked and impressed during his time on the 'Xtra Factor's last series. Bosses have high hopes for this new panel show and think it will be a hit."

The forthcoming series will see two celebrity teams - the stars are not yet known - go head-to-head as they guess what people do for a living purely by looking at them.

And it's not just Matt who has already been snapped up for another show as Roman Kemp - who worked as the 'The X Factor's digital presenter - has also held discussions with bosses about presenting a programme on the same channel.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: "It's nice to know that ITV2 trust me to host a show on my own or with someone else. It's exciting."

Matt joined 'The Xtra Factor' alongside Rylan last year and the pair admitted at the time of their signing that they were planning to do all they could to get "sacked."

Upon hearing the news of the axe, Matt said: "I wanted to write a quick something about my time on 'Xtra Factor', and the news it's not coming back this year...

"I had an absolute blast working on the show - it's honestly the most fun I've ever had at work, and it's thanks to the best production team in the world. 'Xtra' had been on the decline for a few years, but we pulled out all the stops to make a show I am massively proud of.

"The feedback was amazing, and as a fan of 'The X Factor', it was a joy to be involved in some small way. I loved working with Rylan and Roman, and I've no doubt we'll get to do something fun together in the future.

"There aren't many shows on telly that are live and silly but I'm so glad I got to sink my teeth into this one. Thanks to Louis, Sharon, Nicole, Dermot and Simon for such a fun year, and thanks to ITV for taking a chance on the oddest looking presenting combination of all time... I feel very lucky to have done my dream job."
