Netflix have today (April 11) revealed that Marco Polo will be returning to the streaming service for a second season globally on July 1.
Created by John Fusco, the 10 new episodes will star Lorenzo Richelmy in the titular role alongside Michelle Yeoh (the Handmaiden), Benedict Wong (Kublai Khan), Joan Chen (Empress Chabi), Zhu Zhu (Kokachin), Tom Wu (Hundred Eyes), Olivia Cheng (Mei Lin), Claudia Kim (Khutulun), Rick Yune (Kaidu), Remy Hii (Prince Jingim), Mahesh Jadu (Ahmad) and Uli Latukefu (Byamba).
Set in a world emblazoned with greed, sexual intrigue, betrayal and rivalry, the series is based on famous explorer Marco Polo's adventures through Kublai Khan's court in 13th Century China.
Fusco serves as executive producer and showrunner alongside Dan Minahan, with Patrick Macmanus, Elizabeth Sarnoff, Harvey Weinstein and Bob Weinstein as executive producers.
