Embattled rapper DMX has escaped another lengthy spell behind bars after he was sentenced to 18 months probation for verbally threatening a guard during his last stint in prison.
The hip-hop star, real name Earl Simmons, was released from Arizona's Maricopa County Jail last month after serving time on charges of drug possession, animal cruelty and theft, stemming from various arrests in 2008.
He accepted a plea deal on a charge of felony attempted aggravated assault last week, which saw him plead guilty to the offence.
He was back in Maricopa County Court on Monday for sentencing, when a judge ordered him to pay unspecified fees and fines in addition to putting him on probation, reports TMZ.com.
DMX's recent prison spell was originally for 90 days, but his stay was extended after he allegedly assaulted a corrections officer during his incarceration.
