Liam Gallagher has blasted the British music scene saying it's been taken over by "massive *****".

The former Oasis frontman went on a Twitter rant as the BRIT Awards took place at The O2 in London on Wednesday night (24.02.16), which featured performances from UK artists such as Coldplay, Adele, James Bay, and Jess Glynne.

In a series of foul-mouthed tweets, he fumed: "Where do I f***ing start ... Henry the 8th eat your heart out Ha ha ... Music in the UK has been abducted by massive ***** THE END (sic)"

Liam also stated he's glad he's no longer part of the music business but then claimed he was only joking in two cryptic tweets.

The 'Supersonic' singer continued: "Thank f**k I got out when I got out LG ... I ain't ever seen a dolphin in a dog tooth suit have you no there you go ... I'm only f***ing with you cats viva la mind WJPG 21.9.72 son of Margaret boy with the blues (sic)"

Oasis ended in 2009 after Liam's brother Noel Gallagher walked out on the group following a backstage bust-up with his younger sibling.

Liam, 43, then went on to form Beady Eye but disbanded the group in 2014 and his only contribution to music since has been the occasional live performance.

Adele was the big winner on the night taking home four trophies, including the prestigious Mastercard British Album of the Year prize for her third LP '25', while Coldplay were named British Group.

Oasis won a total of six BRITs during their career, including the Outstanding Contribution to Music accolade in 2007.

The rockers were known for causing chaos when they attended the ceremony, with Noel famously insulting late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence when they collected the Best Video statuette from him in 1996, saying "has-beens shouldn't be presenting awards to gonna-bes".

In 2010, Liam collected the award for Best Album of the Last 30 Years - which Oasis won for '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' - but threw the statuette into the crowd.
