Sasha Solette

Dance floors across the country have been burning up thanks to the hot new track So Good, from Global DJ and producer Tony Russo AKA Ginger Woz Red. FemaleFirst got out dancing shoes on and had a chat with him about the massive 2007 club hit ‘Disco Bombing,’ social networking sites, and his love for Kanye West.

What have you been up to recently?

Well quite a lot has been happening recently, I have been working on my album with the very talented Sasha Solette, I have just release a song called ‘so good’ under my own label Loony Records and we shot the video back in July.

‘So good’ has done well in the clubs going to number 7 in the UK Club charts and number 1 in the club breakers charts two weeks running. The official release date is 29th of October.
For anyone who hasn't heard, you how would you describe your sound?
My sound is influenced from my younger years listening to Bob Marley and The Who to Hip Hop House and R& B of late, I think I have heavy bass tones and kicking drum beats with a lot of orchestral overtones I love violins and brass, I would say a mixture of House music and Hip Hop.
How did you get your break in the music industry?
I don’t think I have had my break yet to be honest I have been producing for about six years now and met a lot of interesting artists along the way and have really enjoyed working with most of them but hopefully my break is around the corner.

What makes you different from other artists out there?

I think everybody has their own interpretation of art, for me its my creation and the love of making beats, I have been influenced by my Hip Hop friends in Chicago and my sound is mixed with Soul and Hip Hop from what I have always been doing here in the UK with an eye on the US.

What artists do you look up to?

Kanye West, Fat Boy Slim, Bassment Jaxx are top of my list.

Are there any artists or genres that you’re not keen on?

No I listen to everything and like most genres.

Is there anyone you would like to work with?

Kanye West and I would love to remix a track with Fat Boy Slim.

What would you have liked to achieve in ten years time?

To still have a full head of hair!!! Joking aside my biggest ambition is to be a successful producer and have some hits under my belt.

How important have sites like Facebook and MySpace been for you in getting your music out there?

I don’t use Facebook but MySpace has been good for building a profile with no financial input, you get seen and heard from places around the world that you could not achieve otherwise. It’s worked well for me.
