Agnes

Agnes - otherwise known as Agnes Carlson - looks set to be your new favourite singer this summer, with this, the second single to be taken from her album, Dance Love Pop. After being our ‘Song Of The Week’ a few weeks ago, we caught up with Agnes for a little chat in the summer sun.

Hello there pretty, how are things going in your lovely world?

It’s good, it’s my first time over here and it’s sunny!

You were our ‘Song Of The Week’ recently, how would you sum up your song?

It’s an up-tempo go our and have lots of fun kind of song but I like the lyrics. They’re pretty sad really because it’s about me about one and a half years ago and a boy that was, you know, really bad and so I really like the lyrics and the message in the song that can still be up-tempo, it’s not like happy, happy, happy!

Okay, so tell me about Agnes in just five words!

I can say three words, because my album is called ‘Dance. Love. Pop’ and that describes me pretty well!

Ah, I like it! So what one song from the album do you think we should listen to?

I like a lot of the songs on the album but you should listen to On and On and Sometimes I Forget, which is about sometimes when you have bad things around you and you work a lot you forget those people around you who you love and care about because you have so much in your head.

Aww, on your MySpace page your songs have been played loads, how do you feel knowing so many people check you out?

It’s great, the UK have received me so well and this is my first time working outside Sweden and my single has been released in like, over thirty countries [FF: Wow!] I know! It’s so great to come to Europe and to know that a lot of people will be listening to my song on the

You know we’re having a bit of an economic crisis here at the moment, if people wanted to spend their last £10 on a cd this weekend, why should they buy yours?

Because if you are feeling sad or something, when you listen to my album you will feel really happy and you will feel stronger. Actually a lot of my friends put on my CD when they are getting ready to go out at night!

Awesome! And what has been your favourite musical memory to date?

I have a lot of great memories but I did one of the big Swedish programmes and there was a lot of people on stage and it was so great, when I sang I wanted to start crying because it was so beautiful and I felt privileged to be there.

Aww, that’s so touching! I like you, and if you could cover another singer’s song, what would it be?

I think I would like to take an old song and do it new again. I would take a song that people might have forgotten about and make it popular again.

Who would you like to tour with?

I really love Beyonce, I think she’s really great, oh I also love Maroon Five!

Okay, we ask everyone we interview to come up with a question for the next person we interview, and Billy Talent want to know when was the last time you cried?

Hum, it was about a month ago because a friend of mine were really sad and didn’t feel well and I talked to him for about two hours on the telephone and because he was really sad I went sad too and we cried together and then we felt better!

Aww, that’s so nice for you. And can you come up with a question for the next person we interview please?

Oh, thinking of the last question, ask “When was the last time you laughed so much that you cried?”
