Following two previous singles, ‘So Tomorrow’ and ‘Girl From The BBC’, ‘Bloodsport’ sees Official Secrets Act moving towards darker, more haunting territory, the song reflecting the mood in the OSA camp following drummer Alex McKenzie’s serious cycling accident two-months ago.
Deciding to release something more evocative and brooding, 'Bloodsport' is quite possibly, the best song the band has yet recorded is released through One Little Indian on 15th June. While McKenzie has made a full recovery, he has spent the last eight weeks off the road, forcing the band to improvise and challenge themselves.
The band have just announced an NME Presents show, open to competition winners on Thursday 11th June.
Already the band has been a Breaking Act with the Sunday Times, had a feature in NME and been lauded by press and radio alike, including Zane Lowe’s ‘Single of The Week’, Huw Stephens, Colin Murray, Lauren Laverne and featured interviews with The Sun, Daily Star and The Guardian.
‘Bloodsport’ is mixed by Liam Howe, and an exclusive remix by The Filthy Dukes is being streamed on NME.com. The band will support The Rakes on tour in April, and then hit the festival circuit with gigs at The Great Escape, Secret Garden Party, Glastonbury, Rockness, T in the Park, Hop Farm, Reading and Leeds.
