There was a lot of splitting and rekindling of flames in 2010, and as usual, fans were left devastated and over the moon with the various bits of news from their favourite bands.
The main (and most exciting news of all) was that we had Take That and Blink 182 reforming, but that's SO exciting that we've decided to give them whole articles to themselves, so here I take a look at some of the other goings on this year.
Make Up
Pulp
Jarvis Cocker and his mates must have run a bit short on all that cash they amassed back in the 1990's and decided to was about time to crack open their guitar cases once more…
So, in November 2010 it was announced that the guys would be playing at the Wireless festival in London's Hyde park and the Saturday headline slot at the Isle of Wight festival in 2011.
Who's got tickets?
The Libertines
Perhaps the most exciting reunion (for me at least) was Pete Doherty returning to The Libertines and launching the comeback at Leeds & Reading festivals this summer. I nearly cried when the boys shared a mic, but that could have been the cider….
In spite of their critical success, the band found it hard to shine through their in house conflicts and the media storm surrounding Pete Doherty's addictions to crack cocaine and heroin, and eventually the guys went their separate ways.
In August 2010, the four members of The Libertines reunited to play a series of shows, including being special guests to headliners Arcade Fire on Friday 27 August at Bramham Park, Leeds and Saturday 28 August at Little John's Farm, Reading for the Reading & Leeds festivals.
In true indie style, the band held a press conference at the Boogaloo pub to discuss their reformation which ended up turning into a "guerilla gig" with the band playing many of their old tunes.
Ah, its good to have them back.
Hole
Another tabloid wreck who decided to have a go at reigniting their music career this year was Courtney Love and her mates in Hole. They launched a new website and an official Facebook page on January 1, 2010 and have spent the past year doing various promotional activity for their new album, Nobody's Daughter.
On March 16, the band unveiled their first single in 10 years, "Skinny Little Bitch", and it became the most added song on alternative radio and the second most added song on active rock in early March in the United States.
We've not heard much recently, but we're sure another Courtney Love debacle cant be too far away…
