BEST TV

Skins / Mighty Boosh / Gavin & Stacey / Nevermind the Buzz cocks / IT Crowd

I’ve got to admit that I love all of these shows, and our Sky+ goes mental when I add yet another series link to it, but despite the massive success of The Mighty Boosh over recent years - including hosting their own festival I know that it is another show that the current indie scene wants to be like.

Let me firstly point out that I’m by no means inferring that all NME readers are hardcore drug addicts who go out raving every weekend, but come on, Skins is like the bible of all things ‘cool.’ So many people crave that “I don’t give a shit” attitude that the characters expel from every pore. So therefore Effy and friends get our vote.

HERO OF THE YEAR

Brandon Flowers / Noel Gallagher / Barack Obama / Noel Fielding / Alex Turner

Just what is going on with NME this year, like seriously, what has Barack Obama brought to the readers of NME? Although I guess the same could be said for Alex Turner. Ouch!

Anyway, Brandon Flowers only proved that his fashion sense had taken a nose dive this year and Noel Fielding hasn’t really done that much… so I suppose getting himself elected as the new President of the USA makes him slightly more of a hero than the other nominees.

VILLAIN OF THE YEAR

Amy Winehouse / George Bush / Pete Doherty / John McCain / Gordon Brown

What is it with NME and their foray into politics? Crikey, we’re going to be reading the Economist next, okay, we’ll never sink to that level, but yes, John McCain didn’t really do anything too bad, and Gordon Brown saved us from Tony Blair, so that’s got to be good right?

I’d say that despite Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty becoming the best advertisements heroin and cocaine have ever seen, George Bush might just be a little worse than them after waging war on a country for no real reason. You win some you lose some eh George?
