Armed with Nachos and pizza, my housemates and i settled in for the night, curious to see how James Corden and Matt Horne could possibly interact with the uber-famous Kylie Minogue.
To their credit, the boys did pretty well, although they did leer at her for most of the evening, and the whole thing went off without a hitch, which, we know is pretty much near impossible with a room full of over-inflated egos (despite the fact that Leona Lewis hasn't shown up. She's too big for that now don't you know?
The clear winners of the night were Duffy and Kings Of Leon who spent more time on the festival-inspired set than James Corden probably did - God knows where he went for like half a hour after Joe Calzaghe presented his award!
We all knew that Welsh bombshell Duffy would be clearing up this year after bagging the best selling album in the world last year, and she took home three of her four awards; best British female and best British breakthrough act, before taking the best British album prize for "Rockferry"
Possibly the one of most important awards of the night, Best British Single, which was voted by the (quite obviously deaf) British public, and went to Girls Aloud for The Promise. Now don't get me wrong, Girls Aloud are are awesome, but unfortunately The Promise is not.
But seeing Sarah Haring make a complete fool of herself as she tried to make sure all eyes were on her was possibly the highlight - but most cringeworthy - moment of the whole evening. What an idiot.
The Kings of Leon also left with smiles on their face as they won both best international group and best international album for "Only by the Night" . Their performance on the evening was immense too, and I was relieved to see some guitar clad boys rocking it up on stage for once.
Katy Perry, looked absolutely fabulous as she scooped the gong for best international female winner, however, the same can't be said for Kanye West - best international male - as his ultra-white teeth clashed with his fuschia pink shirt and grey jacket... bizarre.
The biggest shock for me was Coldplay - who I think are perhaps the greatest british band around at the moment - they were nominated in four categories, but left with nothing.
It was good to see metal music finally being recognised at such a mainstream awards ceremony as Iron Maiden quite rightly walked away with the gong for best live act title; beating the epic Coldplay to the prize.
One of the bands that my mum and dad, brought me up on, the Pet Shop Boys, walked away with a special Brit for an outstanding contribution to music; leading the the climax of the show featuring a jaw-dropping medley of all their greatest hits; West End Girls, In Surburbia and I'm With Stupid..
