Live Nation have announced today that The Priests will continue their extraordinary journey, one that has seen this overnight sensation top the charts from America to Australia, by bringing their #1 album and much more to the stage for the very first time in June 2009.
Taking in arena dates in Glasgow, Manchester and London, these very first live shows in the UK by Northern Ireland Catholic priests, Fathers Eugene O Hagen, Martin O Hagen and David Delargy have been specifically scheduled around their parish obligations and their true calling of celebrating regular Mass, weddings, funerals, baptisms and community work – church commitments will always come first.
Selling close to two million records worldwide to date, The Priests have defied record industry convention by just being themselves; middle-aged Roman Catholic priests who sing. A dream story of world class talent wrapped up in an amazing true story spanning a turbulent lifetime of service, faith and music. With no stunts, no stylists, no make-up no image and no audio trickery The Priests have taken the world by storm. Why the success? They simply sing and they sing with belief.
Within the space of 6 months, The Priests have gone from performing in community centres to arriving at this special moment to announce three huge arena shows usually reserved for the likes of Take That, Girls Aloud, U2 and Coldplay. These extremely special shows will be a celebration of music featuring a 30-piece orchestra and 20 strong choir. The Priests will present an evening of time-honoured traditional classics alongside their first UK performances of secular repertoire.
Father Eugene O Hagan said “It’s a dream come true, and to play in such prestigious venues. We are so excited and are looking forward to meeting the people we will perform to in the towns we are going to visit”
The first UK shows are as follows:
TUESDAY 16 JUNE MANCHESTER ARENA
THURSDAY 18 JUNE GLASGOW SECC HALL 4
WEDNESDAY 24 JUNE LONDON 02 ARENA
