At Hed Kandi it is a belief that when your dancing days are over and your physical being is nothing but a glittery urn full of disco dust, your soul will indeed ascend from earth to a place in the sky known as Disco heaven.
So in preparation for this inevitable life of eternal disco, Hed Kandi bestows upon us the latest chapter in the Hed Kandi: Disco Heaven bible out on 28th September 2009. An annual blessing of the sexiest, most uplifting and soulful disco house – this is the gospel according to Hed Kandi.
CD1 launches with a who’s who of the disco brigade as Brazilian sensation DJ Memê serves up a spanking new disco version of Joey Negro & The Sunburst Band hit record ‘Sitting On Top Of The World’. Next up is one of Hed Kandi’s favourite divas, Shena, who features with her latest single ‘Can't Stop The Rain’ from her upcoming album in a late ‘70s-inspired, self-written production.
Muthafunkaz take us to heaven via ‘Galaxy’ featuring Sheila Ford and aptly named Biblical Jones on vocal. Romain Curtis & Seamus Haji's epic production ‘I've Been Looking’ brings this disc to its zenith with a mighty running synth hook not forgetting to mention a purely breathtaking vocal performance from Swedish chanteuse Awa.
Roll on CD2 to leap straight into ‘You Are The One For Me’ by Roberto De Carlo, with Colin Corvez on the vox grooving the unforgettable vocal melody line of the legendary D’Train anthem in this modern cover. Hed Kandi's very own headline DJs, Dean Rigg and Chris Bailey lay down their headphones and showcase their production skills with a dazzling remix of Jay C's ‘Rollin’.
Other tracks deemed heavenly enough to appear include Viale & DJ Ross' mix of Moony's anthem ‘I Don't Know Why’ whilst Dutch duo Daniel Bovie & Roy Rox steal the show with ‘Love Me’ featuring an awe inspiring vocal from Nelson. To finish Grant Nelson’s latest masterpiece emerges and in true Nelson style he adds his signature heavenly sound with one of the hottest tracks in clubland ‘Brave New World’.
The latest Hed Kandi cover art fantasy is that of a disco-diva goddess who has descended to earth to spread the lyrics of one of the most adored and steadfast dance music genres of our time – Disco. Disco Heaven – You’ve got to go up to get down……!
