2016 looks set to be a very busy year for Will Smith and Concussion is the first film project that we are going to see him star in.

Concussion

Concussion

Concussion will see Smith take on the real-life role of Dr. Bennet Omalu, a forensic neuropathologist who made the first discovery of CTE, a football-related brain trauma, in a pro player.

The movie is inspired by true events and the GQ article Game Brain by Jeanne Marie Laskas and sees Peter Landesman back on writing and directing duties.

Concussion is set to hit the big screen in February and the new international trailer has dropped. Check it out:

Concussion is only the second feature film for Landesman and comes three years after he made his directorial debut with Parkland - he has penned the screenplay as well as being in the director's chair.

Landesman has brought together a terrific cast as Smith is joined by Alec Baldwin, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Stephen Moyer, Albert Brooks, Luke Wilson, Eddie Marsan, and Matthew Willig.

Will Smith stars in Concussion, a dramatic thriller based on the incredible true David vs. Goliath story of Dr. Bennet Omalu, the brilliant forensic neuropathologist who made the first discovery of CTE, a sports-related brain trauma, in a pro player and fought for the truth to be known.

Omalu's emotional quest puts him at dangerous odds with one of the most powerful - and beloved - institutions in the world.

Smith is no stranger to taking on real-life roles, having played Muhammad Ali and Chris Gardener in the past, and I cannot wait to see what he delivers. This is a role that he can really get his teeth into and it promises to be the film that sees Smith return to top form.

Concussion is released 12th February 2016.
