Zootropolis, which is the fifty-fifth animation film from Disney, has already made it three weeks at the top of the U.S. box office and has been met with acclaim from the critics.

This is the latest film in what is a hot-streak for Disney as it comes off the back of the success of Frozen and Big Hero 6 in recent years.

So far, the movie has grossed $600.3 million at the global box office and is the most successful animation movie of the year so far.

Zootropolis is also the second highest grossing film of 2016 and is currently behind Deadpool's box office gross of $731 million. It is fair to say that the animated feature is going to pull in more money before the end of its theatrical run. It is already looking like this might be the biggest animation of the year.

The movie sees Byron Howard, Rich Moore, and Jared Bush in the director's chair. Howard and Moore are no strangers to the animation genre with Tangled, Bolt and Wreck-It Ralph between them. However, this marks the feature film directorial debut for Bush.

Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman lead an impressive voice cast list while Idris Elba, Shakira, J.K. Simmons, Octavia Spencer, and Alan Tudyk are some of the other big names on board.

2016 is going to be a special year for Disney as we are going to be treated to two movies... the second comes in the form of Moana, which will be released towards the end of the year.

Zootropolis is released 25th March.
