Jai Courtney says he doesn't know what to brand Terminator Genisys as it is neither a sequel nor a reboot.
Filming on Terminator Genisys has come to a close and the popular franchise is set to return to the big screen next summer.
Courtney is set to take over the role of Kyle Reese for the first time, as he teams up with director Alan Taylor.
And while there are going to be elements of the story that we are familiar with, Courtney says that they are not remaking and earlier film in the Terminator franchise.
Speaking to The Huffington Post, the actor said: "What I can say is that we start in a place we’re familiar with from the early films and then, you know, circumstances change.
"It somewhat shifts the course of events from that point. It’s not necessarily a sequel or a reboot. I don’t even know how you brand it correctly.
"We’re not remaking one of the early ‘Terminator’ movies. And it doesn’t necessarily carry on from the point where we left off."
Emilia Clarke, Matt Smith, JK. Simmons, and Jason Clarke are some of the new faces on the cast list, while Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back.
As for Courtney, Terminator Genisys is just one of the projects that we are going to be seeing the actor in as he has completed work on Unbroken, The Water Diviner, and Insurgent.
Terminator Genisys is released 3rd July 2015.
