The Lovely Bones

Stanley Tucci has revealed that he found filming The lovely Bones tough.

He takes on the role of George Harvey , who rapes and murders a young girl, in the adaptation of Alice Sebold's novel but admits he was revealed that Peter Jackson chose not to film that part of the story.

In an interview with Parade the actor said: "Fortunately, the actual rape and murder of her character is implied or I don't think I could have done it. But, the scenes where I'm sort of seducing Saoirse were tough enough.

"I apologised after practically every take or just said, 'Are you okay? Are you all right, are you okay?'. And she did the same thing to me. She's a very mature young lady."

"There's no doubt though that this was the most difficult thing as an actor I've ever done. I would drop him when I went home because I needed to be with my family and I didn't want to put them through that.

"At the end of the day, I did look forward to going into the makeup trailer and having a martini. Actually, I considered having one at the beginning of the day too."

The Lovely Bones is already surrounded in Oscar talk and could be one of the big winner this awards season.

The movie is also a return to directing for Peter Jackson who has concentrated on producing the likes of District 9 and working on Tin Tin.

The Lovely Bones is released 29th January.
