Every girl knows the value of a little black dress. You can throw it on when you're running late for a date or just having a 'fat day' and you know you'll look fab.

With the focus being on neons and prints for the last few seasons we could be forgiven for forgetting our old reliable friend but now it's time to dig her out from the back of the wardrobe because the LBD is making a comeback.

The catwalks and high streets have been filled with new and classic takes on the little black dress over the last few months so there's plenty to choose from. Female First give you the run down of the best styles on the high street and which celebrities are wearing them.

Sienna Miller, Rachel Stevens and Amanda Bynes are just a few of the stylish celebrities who have been seen working the LBD look at recent events and it seems that simple detail and focused tailoring is the way to go when choosing the perfect little black dress.

Sienna opted for a sleek strapless pencil dress for a Cinema Society screening last month (see gallery). The fitted style helped create curves on Miss Miller's slender frame and she added colour by accessorising with a bright red bag.

Rachel Stevens went for a more classically elegant option for her LBD. At the Moet Mirage party as part of this week's London Fashion Week Rachel wore a calf length square neck number with a full 50s skirt. The floaty skirt highlighted her pretty ankles and the low cut neckline added sexiness.

At the same party Peaches Geldoff punked up her choice with a white frill collar on a simple off the shoulder dress.

Amanda Bynes went for plain girly-ness at the launch of her new clothes line. The mini low cut jersey dress showed of her perfectly toned pins and a simple silver necklace and bracelet were the only accessories she needed.
