David Beckham's new jersey for the Los Angeles Galaxy team is widely predicted to sell like hot cakes.

The Real Madrid player will leave the club at the end of the season after signing a £1 million a week deal with the soccer club.

Sports retailers are eager to get their hands on his kit as soon as possible.

Soccer west store owner Andrew Lilley said:" We're already talking about how we can get the new jerseys in as soon as possible."

"Normally, we don't even touch MLS merchandise, but we definitely want to carry the Beckham jersey."

Sports marketing consultant Derek Aframe also told the financial post that Beckham's number 23 Real Madrid jersey -- a number worn as a tribute to basketball legend Michael Jordan -- is the top-selling sports jersey in the world.
