'Batman: Return to Arkham' is set to be released in November.
The HD remasters of Batman: Arkham Asylum' and 'Batman: Arkham City', combined as one download, were due to be released in July but Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment had to postpone the title due to porting issues.
After the announced delay there was no definitive release date in sight, but now November is the target month to get 'Return to Arkham' out for the Christmas period, meaning it has been delayed by an entire quarter.
In a statement announcing the initial postponement Warner Bros. revealed: "After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of 'Batman: Return to Arkham' to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished 'Batman Arkham' game experience.
"We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready."
The problems with the port are believed to have been caused by an internal decision to outsource the port to a third party rather than use the Rocksteady team that created the trilogy of 'Batman: Arkham' games.
The two games - released in 2009 and 2011 respectively - are being remastered using the Unreal Engine 4 for improved graphics and gameplay.
Players get to control The Caped Crusader in a third-person gaming environment and must rely on stealth and their fighting skills to defeat enemies such as The Joker, Harley Quinn, Bane, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy and Scarecrow.
