Earlier, we told you how Brad Pitt roasted Casey Affleck last night at the Hollywood Film Festivals awards gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.As promised, here are some more goodies from the evening:League of Their Own: Ben Affleck accepted the Director Breakthrough of the Year Award for his directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, from Casey. "The last time this happened...I was 12 [and] Casey was 9," Ben said. "We were accepting trophies for winning the Cambridge Little League Championship. Casey was the shortstop on the team. I was the catcher...It remained the high point of my life for a long, long time."Feminine Mystique: John Travolta explained why it took him 30 years to return to movie musicals, as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray. "People asked why, and I would smugly say, 'Because simply women have the best roles in musicals,' " Travolta said, accepting the Supporting Actor of the Year award. Travolta said he couldnt have pulled off his gender-bending without all the gals in his life. "I have to thank all the women, because I grew up watching women, admiring women," he said. "I never thought I would play a woman, so I learned a lot...I found it insightful and interesting."Series Issue: Of course, Richard Gere was thankful for his Actor of the Year Award for Hoax, but he had other things to celebrate last night. "Another reason this is a really great day," Gere said, "my four tickets to the World Series came through!"Flower Child: One of my new faves, Marion Cotillard, picked up Best Actress of the Year for her starring role as Édith Piaf in La Vie En Rose. "Im living my dream," Cotillard (below) said. "Im living my dream, and its my reality right now." Later on, Starz Entertainment hosted the poolside after-party at Trader Vics and Circa 55. Among the bold-faced who stuck around for some schmoozin were the Afflecks, Cotillard, Hairspray stars Zac Efron, Brittany Snow, Elijah Kelley and Nikki Blonsky along with their producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, Jennifer Esposito and Cheryl Hines.
And I cant not tell you about Catherine Zeta-Jones. She presented Producers of the Year to Zadan and Meron. Simply put, Ms. Zeta-Jones was smokin hot!
