Jimmy Kimmel is contemplating retirement because he wants a "little more free time".
The 49-year-old American chat show host has recently extended his 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' contract for a further three years, but he is unsure what project he will embark on after that time, although he knows at a "certain point" he will want to quit the industry to spend more time with his family.
Speaking to Variety about his career, the funny man - who has children Katie, 25, Kevin, 23, and two-year-old Jane, but is expecting another child with his wife Molly McNearny - said: "[I] will do the show for another three years.
"It's possible that will be it.
"My wife's pregnant. At a certain point, I'd like to have a little more free time. I have very little free time as it is."
And although at times Jimmy considers his presenting job to be "a grind" and a "marathon", he would only call time on his career at the helm of the entertainment business if it was on his "own terms" and if he found the ABC programme became too repetitive.
He explained: "I think this job is a grind, and best-cast scenario, a marathon. I want to go out on my own terms. If I ever feel like we're repeating ourselves, I think it's a good indication that it's time."
And Jimmy has hinted a future career path could see him pursue his passion for art and making sculptures.
He said: "If there's something that excites me creatively, it doesn't necessarily mean something in show business.
"I like to draw. I like to make sculptures. I'd like to write a book at some point. Doing the show every day doesn't leave a lot of time for that."
Meanwhile, Jimmy is set to take to the fore to present the audience during the 89th Academy Awards, which will take place on Sunday (26.02.17) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
