Courteney Cox feels embarrassed that she still “loves” Michael Jackson’s music.
The ‘Friends’ star has confessed to being a fan of the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker’s music, but said she doesn’t know whether her taste in records is something she should be open about because of the allegations that surround the late singer.
Michael - who died in 2009 - was accused of a string of child sexual abuse offences, and although he was found not guilty, further allegations came to light in the controversial 'Leaving Neverland' documentary.
When asked whether she still listens to the King of Pop, Courteney said: “I love Michael Jackson’s music, and it’s terrible. He’s still on my playlists, and no-one’s saying anything so I’ll just go on with it.”
The 56-year-old actress is torn about her decision to continue supporting his music though, and admitted she “wouldn’t know what to say” if someone questioned her.
Speaking to Foy Vance on his 'Vinyl Supper' podcast and video series, she added: “I mean it’s hard because … look, I still have the glove photograph in my kitchen. Luckily, no-one ever says, ‘Is that Michael Jackson’s glove?’, because I’d have to be like ‘… maybe’. I wouldn’t know what to say.”
‘Leaving Neverland’ was released in 2019, and features allegations from Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who spent time with Michael when they were children, and claim he sexually abused them.
Wade - who testified under oath in Michael's 2005 child sex abuse trial that the musician never abused him - claims that he was molested by the King of Pop from the age of seven until 14.
James - who previously testified on Michael's behalf when he was accused of sexual abuse in 1993 - claimed he was abused from the age of 10 until he reached puberty.
The Michael Jackson estate has hit back at the allegations branding both accusers "perjurers" and "admitted liars".
In his 2005 child molestation trial Michael was acquitted by a jury of all charges.
