Rachel Hoffman does not hold back in this new book which aims to get you off your bum and sorting out your mess.

Unf*ck Your Habitat

Unf*ck Your Habitat

There are some similarities in this book to others of the same vein, however Hoffman chooses to talk about how to deal with others when you live in a mess, which is not something other authors have focused on in any great detail before.

Most of us don’t live alone so your bad habits can affect those you love and care about- similarly- their ways can also make your life particularly difficult too. It’s important to know what to do in these situations and the author explores that with the reader to avoid any and all obstacles that might get in your way.

Another topic that Hoffman tackles is your digital hoard. Although it might not take up as much physical space as your other stuff- it can get out of hand, so she offers her advice on how to remedy this too. Along with this she shares tips on what to do when moving house and dealing with work documentation, which haven’t been touched upon in many books of a similar ilk.

Her chatty and frank way of writing means this book very easy to digest and it certainly makes you laugh along the way. She tells you how it is even if your friends and family have been tiptoeing around the issue for years. I think some people do need the frank wakeup call. This book delivers especially if those who know you best are worried they might hurt your feelings by drawing attention to your messy home.

Hoffman takes the time to note that we don’t all have the same physical abilities and some people may have issues that limit them to only doing certain things. This book addresses these differences and offers solutions for everyone- whatever your physical capability.

The book can be summed up in two words tough love. It’s sensitive and thoughtful but also motivational. Reading it is like talking to a good friend who is not afraid to tell you the truth but who will support you through your journey.
