Season 4 of Arrow is coming to a close, but with that comes the news that star of the show Echo Kellum will be promoted to be a series regular role with the fifth season.

Following his debut in season 4's second episode, Kellum was introduced as technology expert Curtis Holt, a genius developer who was integral in keeping Palmer Tech afloat alongside CEO Felicity Smoak following the disappearance of Ray Palmer.

In the comic books world, Curtis Holt is also superhero Mr. Terrific, and in an interview with The Wrap last year, Kellum explained how similar his character and the one in that world are.

"The character in the comics was extremely smart," he said. "He will create the same things the character in the comic books created, he'll be the same superhero. He's an Olympic athlete, knows martial arts, so he still shares a lot of similarities with the comic book version. But he is his own character."

He also mused about how Holt may become a superhero in the show: "I can't really say how Curtis becomes Mr. Terrific, but I think it will be some type of event that happens that pushes him to want to do more for the city and in general."

Arrow season 4 continues Wednesdays, 8pm on The CW in the US.
