Russell T Davies wants Amy Winehouse to play Doctor Who.
The producer of the hit BBC sci-fi show believes the troubled singer would be fantastic as the space travelling Time Lord when current Doctor David Tennant eventually leaves the Tardis.
He said: "She would be brilliant."
Davies, 45, is adamant a woman should play the iconic role one day, and would love to see Dame Judi Dench fight the Daleks.
However, he admits the Doctor's sex change could present parents with some difficult trouser-related questions.
He added: "I don't think kids will have a problem with a female Doctor, but I think fathers could have a problem with it because they will imagine they will have to describe sex changes to their children.
"I think fathers can describe sex changes to their children, and I think they should as it's part of the world. But the trouble is you would simply be introducing genitalia into family viewing. You're not talking about actresses or style, you're talking about genitals and a lot of parents would be embarrassed by that."
