Bad news for all Bran and Hodor fans, as we are not going to be seeing the popular duo in the fifth season of Game of Thrones.
Isaac Hempstead Wright and Kristian Nairn have been with the show since the first season, and have been on an epic journey to find the tree that has haunted Bran’s dreams and visions.
The end of season four saw them finally reach the end of their quest, but now we are going to have wait until season six to learn of their fate.
While the Game of Thrones series has stayed faithful to George RR Martin’s novels, we have seen the Bran story develop a little earlier than expected.
Season four of the smash hit series did largely focus on events in the second half of the third novel in the series A Storm of Swords.
However, many elements of the Bran and co story line were taken from A Dance With Dragons, and now the rest of the series is going to have to catch up.
Martin is planning to write two more novels in the Ice and Fire series, but it doesn’t look like we are going to be getting those anytime soon. It has recently been revealed that the Game of Thrones series will finish after seven season, whether the new books are ready or not.
Filming on the fifth series is currently underway, which will see the show explore new characters and new areas of Westeros. HBO are yet to release official word about Bran and Hodor being left out of the new series.
The Game of Thrones season has really propelled Wright to fame, as this is the biggest role of his acting career to date.
If you are missing the character of Bran already do not fear as Wright will be returning to the big screen this month with new animation Boxtrolls.
The film is from the creators of Coraline and will sees Wright lend his voice to the central character of Eggs. He is part of an all-star cast as Ben Kingsley, Elle Fanning, Jared Harris and Nick Frost are all also on board.
Game of Thrones will be returning to screens in the U.S. and UK next spring, and it is already one of the most anticipated shows of 2015.
