Ant and Dec's Soccer show

2 months ago 21st Jul 13:00

Ant and Dec will host this year's Soccer Aid 2008 at London's Wembley Stadium.

The cheeky TV presenters will bring coverage of the match, which will be held in aid of UNICEF, between England and The Rest of The World on September 7 on ITV1.

TV chef Gordon Ramsay will captain The Rest of The World team for the second consecutive year, and will be in charge of players including Westlife singer Nicky Byrne, Alastair Campbell, Patrick Kielty, Brian Lara, 'Desperate Housewives' star Jesse Metcalfe and Peter Schmeichel. The team will be managed by legendary Scottish international football player Kenny Dalglish.

The England team - comprising players Jamie Redknapp and Alan Shearer, and including celebrities Kyran Bracken, Ben Shephard, Gareth Gates, Jamie Theakston, and Jonathan Wilkes - will be managed by Portsmouth FC boss Harry Redknapp.

However, former Take That star Robbie Williams - who captained England in Soccer Aid last year, and came up with the whole concept of the charity football tournament - will not be returning to his role due to a knee injury.

He said: "Being able to help so many people through Soccer Aid was one of the true highlights of my life. I'm gutted that this time round my knee isn't up to it so unfortunately I'm out of the game. But I hope that everyone involved has the time of their life like I did, raises loads of money for UNICEF and that the best side wins."

Each team comprises eleven celebrities and five football legends.
