The Farm The Winner Is

26-05-2005 23:00

And The Winner Is... Orville and his best friend Keith Harris

A joyful Orville was declared the winner of The Farm 2005 tonight. Keith and his faithful sidekick Orville The Duck beat off fierce competition from second placed Mikey in an incredibly close race to scoop the title of Top Farmer.

"Thank you," said an emotional and almost speechless Keith to Colin and Justin, who were almost as excited as he was.

Keith wins a prize of £50,000 and was handed The Farm Trophy by Farmer Ryan.

He said that his best experiences on The Farm were watching the lambs and the piglets being born.

Mikey hugged his rival and seemed genuinely pleased for him, despite his disappointment.

Congratulations to all the Farmhands and especially to Keith and Orville. Top farming!

Close But no cigar for the other two farm finalists Emma Noble and Dave were named in third and fourth.

Actress and glamour model Emma came third after lasting till the bitter end and being the only female in the final four. While she was disappointed not to win it, she will be delighted to be reunited with her young son Harry.

Colin asked if she was disappointed after coming so close, not to have won. "No, not at all. I've had such a good time."

Fireman Dave came fourth in the public vote but the "workhorse" said he thoroughly enjoyed the experience of both farming and meeting new people.

"I'm just happy to be here," he said.

Last night also saw the other farmhands gather for a last reunion and chat about their experiences and gave their verdict on 18 days of agricultural laughter and tears to Colin and Justin.

"It was a wonderful, emotional experience," said Lionel.

Charlene was asked what she would miss from The Farm. "Not Ron snoring," she said to general agreement from others. "I miss the animals. And Ryan!"

"Farmer Flav!" bellowed Flavor after Lionel told how they had "hung out" after their last night on The Farm.

And Farmer Ryan told Justin that he was, "Like a proud father. They've done really well. It's been a pleasure to teach them, and I'm proud of them."
