England Regain the Lead

8 months ago 28th Aug 16:45

England have beaten India in the third one-day international to go 2-1 up in the series with an excellent all-round performance at Edgbaston.

After posting a solid total of 281 led by the in-form Ian Bell (76), England set about bowling their opponents out for 239 to claim a 42 run victory and regain the lead in the series.

New captain Paul Collingwood also posted a useful 44 to give the bowlers the platform to mount an attack on India’s batsmen.

Lancashire’s James Anderson got the ball rolling as England bowled India out with 1.9 overs remaining with Chris Tremlett again showing he can cut it at international level.

Tremlett claimed the wickets of Dravid and Ganguly who became only the fourth man to pass 11,000 one-day international runs before falling victim to Tremlett for 72.

All-rounder Andrew Flintoff missed the game with a knee injury that he picked up at Bristol but is expected to be fit for the fourth game at Old Trafford on Thursday.
