TYSON BANNED FROM TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
American boxer MIKE TYSON and his entourage have been banned from visitor attractions on his forthcoming visit to York, England, amid fears his tarnished reputation will damage the tourist trade.
The former world heavyweight champion is visiting a string of cities on his speaking tour of the UK - but the convicted rapist's presence in Derby earlier this week (15NOV05) provoked a violent brawl in the audience.
Fearing a repeat of the incident, some of York's most famous tourist areas have subsequently been axed from his schedule.
English Heritage, which owns York's Clifford's Tour landmark, says, "Given Mr Tyson's recent high profile in the media, we are very concerned that the number of people likely to be following him would be too high for this small site.
"So we've declined a request to be part of his itinerary."
