Paul Burrell's wife is calling for him to come home and face the music over claims he lied at the inquest into Britain's Princess Diana's death.
The princess' former butler, who currently resides in Florida, has refused to return to the UK after secretly filmed footage showing him boasting about not telling "the whole truth" during the case prompted police to investigate possible perjury charges.
However, his wife Maria thinks the only way to solve the problem is for Paul to face up to the accusations.
A friend of the couple told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "Maria doesn't think it's good Paul should spend his life hidden away in America, it would be better if he came home sooner rather than later and faced the flak.
"Paul dreads the idea of coming back to the UK as he knows he'll get a hostile reception but Maria is the one person capable of persuading him to change his mind."
Earlier this week, it was reported Paul was "close to breaking point" after being labelled a liar for his false testimony during the inquest at London's High Court.
The former butler could still loose his green card status in the US and be forced to move back to the UK.
