Princes angered by play

01-09-2006 07:58

Britain's Princes William and Harry are reportedly distraught over a new play about the tragic death of their mother Princess Diana.

The show - created by German director Christoph Schlingensief - depicts the last hours of Diana's life before she was killed in a car crash in Paris nine years ago today (31.08.06).

The play - due to open in Berlin in two weeks time and transfer to London in October - has caused renewed anguish among the young princes, who earlier this year publicly criticised the exploitation of their mother's memory.

A royal source said: "It doesn't take a genius to work out how William and Harry feel about these things."

Several scenes in the story are also expected to upset the royals.

In one particular scene an actress, dressed as Queen Elizabeth, is shown giving a Nazi salute.

Schlingensief - who has previously created works about rapists and staged a show featuring real neo-Nazis - says the controversial show is part of a bigger project.
