Prince Charles' Wales celebration

2 months ago 19th Jun 14:00

Britain's Prince Charles is set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of becoming the Prince of Wales.

The prince and wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, will attend a dinner held by Welsh First Minister Rhodi Morgan to mark the anniversary next Wednesday.

During the visit - part of their annual five-day summer tour of Wales - the royal couple will spend their first night in their £1.2million home in Llwynywermod near the village of Myddfai in Carmarthenshire.

The pair are also set to launch a new initiative to help sheep farmers during their travels of the country.

The Cambrian Mountain Initiative aims to support upland sheep farmers and will kick off with a presentation from the prince, who will help promote their work.

The scheme aims to give consumers confidence in the lamb they buy and encourages farmers to sign up to a set of principles which ensure animals are born and bred within a specified area and reared using traditional methods.
