Manic Street Preachers' intimate show

2 months ago 18th Jul 13:15

Manic Street Preachers are to play an intimate concert ahead of their festival appearances.

The Welsh band headline the NME Stage at the Reading and Leeds festivals on August 24 and 25 respectively, and have announced they will play a warm-up show at the Newport Centre on August 21.

Speaking about the concert, bassist Nicky Wire said: "We have not played the Newport Centre since 1997 and that was a warm-up for a Reading headline appearance.

"That night was pretty special, and as this will be the band's only performance in Wales this year we are all really looking forward to it and sure it will be just as memorable."

Stereophonics have also announced festival warm-up shows.

The rockers will play Blackburn King George's Hall on August 12 and the Cambridge Corn Exchange on August 13 ahead of their V Festival appearances on August 16 and 17.

Tickets for both the Manic Street Preachers and Stereophonics shows are on sale from 9am today (18.07.08).
