Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong have scrapped the release of their debut album.
The self-titled record was due to be released in less than two weeks and promotional copies had already been sent out.
However, acting on their manager's advice, the band have now decided to ditch the album, which was recorded last year, despite reviews already appearing in the press.
The band's manager, Raye Cosbert, told NME.COM that he suggested to the band that they shelve the release as their sound has changed since recording it.
Raye said: "They've grown as musicians, the album was recorded too early in their career. The band have all agreed that's it's the best thing to do."
The band's record label, the Vertigo/Mercury Music Group added in a statement: "Obviously we completely respect our artists' creative decisions. Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong are a great band and we look forward to releasing their first album in the near future."
Raye said no new recording dates had been scheduled, but the replacement record will now be released early 2009.
