In today's Daily Rap Kool Herc files claim against Jay Z, Juelz Santana speaks out against Cam 'Ron, Shyne to be released early and Sean Combs going to Hollywood.
One of the founding fathers of Hip-Hop, the Bronx;s very own Kool Herc has allegedly filed a claim against Jay Z, Bruce Ratner, a NY based property developer and Barclays Bank for a whopping $5 billion.
The claim stems from the alleged involvement of Barclays being founded on money from the slave trade. The combination of Jay Z, Ratner and the bank came together to buy the New Jersey Nets NBA franchise, a move which has obviously enraged Kool Herc where he seeks money for slavery reparations.
Dipset rapper Juelz Santana spoke out against his label mate Cam'Ron in a recent interview on a NY radio show. Santana who released his second Def Jam album back in 2005, What the Game is Missing has yet to release anything since. The reason for this stalemate in the career of a rapper who was said to be the 'next big thing' has fallen on the shoulders of his long time associate and label mate Cam'Ron.
Santana failed to go into detail about just what the issue is between the two Harlem rappers. Fans of Juelz are anticipating a collaboration between him and Lil Wayne which is expected some time this year.
Having served over seven years it has been reported that rapper Shyne who was imprisoned after a shooting incident in an NY club in 2001 will be released very soon.
The high profile shooting which involved Hip-Hop mogul Sean Combs and his then girlfriend Jenifer Lopez saw the Bad Boy Recording Artist receive a sentence of 10 years for shooting in the club. The witness who testified that Shyne, born Jamal Barrows, pulled out a gun and started shooting at party goers is said to have been approached by Combs to lie on the stand, leaving himself and Lopez free of charges.
It is unknown if Shyne will return to rap after his release after his 2004 debut on Def Jam didn't amass the sales anticipated.
The rapper/producer/mogul/designer has indicated that he is now looking to further his talents through acting. After the success of the Broadway show and TV adaptation of Raisin in the Sun in which Combs starred he has spoke out saying that a move to Hollywood would not be too out of the ordinary as he looks to explore his thespian side. Prior to Raisin in the Sun, Combs starred along side Oscar winner Halle Berry in Monsters Ball.
