Must See Summer Festival Performances

1 month ago 16th May 13:05

British summer brings with it many things; sun burn, barbeques and most importantly festivals. With a host of stages each with a number of bands wanting your attention, it’s often difficult to know who is worth seeing. To avoid wasting your precious time on unworthy bands, we have picked out performances that are going to rock this summer.

Hot Chip

Ever since the days when “Over and Over” hit the radio, Hot Chip have been known for their highly-charged dance floor tracks. There is nothing that will get a party started like these guys and tracks such as this one and recent single, “Ready for the Floor” sound even more electric on stage. They were one of the highlights of last year’s Glastonbury and will no doubt repeat this when they perform the festival again this year. Hot Chip are also playing Wireless, Bestival, V and T in the Park.

Santogold

Making her debut on the festival circuit this year, Philadelphian Santi White, AKA Santogold is set to make an impression. Playing Great Escape, Glastonbury and Bestival, amongst others she will be showcasing tracks from her debut self-titled album out this month. This lady is on the lips of everyone at the moment and her summer’s performances look likely to be talked about just as much. She won’t be playing on small stages for much longer so get out and see how now before you have to crush your way through thousands to get a decent view.

Vampire Weekend

Another act to be debuting this year, Vampire Weekend may be new comers to English festival but their afro-beat inspired tracks are the perfect soundtrack for the summer. The sunny songs will go down a treat and they are one of the bands looking set to make it big soon, so get in and see them first before the bandwagon picks up speed. The band can be seen at Glastonbury and the Carling Weekends at Reading and Leeds.

The Last Shadow Puppets

Although neither Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) nor Miles Kane (The Rascal) are strangers to the stage, this is the first time fans will be able to see the two of them perform together. Many doubted the best friends could make the band work, but their debut album, “The Age of the Understatement” received rave reviews. Now the buzz around their upcoming festival performances is huge and this is not one to be missed. Catch their live debut at the Carling Weekends at Reading and Leeds this August.

Jay Z

The announcement that the hip-hop star would be headlining Glastonbury this year was hit with mass controversy. Whether or not you think the choice is genius or a disaster in the making it is going to be one of the most momentous moments of the summer. All eyes will be on him so make sure you don’t miss out.
