Girls Can’t Catch... Okay, so not the best name for a band, and it kinda reminds me of the fact that I am utterly rubbish at sport, but considering I’ve listened to their new single Echo on loop for the past 20 minutes I think GCC don’t need to worry about Physical Education.
Following on from their debut single, Keep Your Head Up, which snatched a respectable 26 in the UK charts, the girls’ second single, Echo HAS to make it to number one - I mean if Joe McElderry can get to number two then this single is a clear number one.
Despite being something of a ‘manufactured’ pop group after being scouted by their label Polydor, the girls have taken their opportunity at a stab at pop stardom and run with it - and I’m now on my sixth play of Echo.
Thanks to the Phoebe Brown being a member of X Factor finalists "Hope" the girls, who also include Jess Stickley who was scouted from the Motorokr competition and Daizy Agnew of MTV's Urban Base, have blagged themselves quite lot of media attention and - as cliché as it sounds - look set to make 2010 their year.
Interestingly, the group's name was originally offered to The Saturdays, who turned it down, after hearing this song, I imagine The Saturdays are kicking themselves.
Rating - 5/5 - My Favourite song of 2010 so far.
